IF: Juggle

Standard

Just squeaking in with a submission for the IF topic, Juggle. This piece was inspired by my son who loves to juggle. Last summer, while visiting my sister, he juggled while balancing on top of some crazy Bongo Board that she had found at a garage sale. I think he may be ready for the circus in a few years!

Laser Tag Monster

Standard

I hate that I haven’t been posting lately. I keep sketching out ideas for the Illustration Friday themes and then get too busy to finish them off. I’ve been working at a preschool 3 days a week for the past 3 weeks and it has seriously cut into my art time. (Although, I have been known to break out the sketch pad during naptime!!) Maybe I’ll have to bring in a laptop and teach these kids how to draw on the computer. They’re only 3 years old, but I figure it’s never too early to learn!

Anyway, here is a little illustration I made for my son’s birthday party. He is having a laser tag party and requested a Chewbacha-type dude shooting lasers. It was a quick one.

IF: Alphabets

Standard

Here is my submission for Alphabets. I created this in Photoshop & Painter for the upcoming NC/NE Texas SCBWI Conference in Arlington, TX. If any of you are interested in attending, please go to http://www.northtexasscbwi.org/ I like the texture of this piece (and that girl’s curly hair). It’s a collage of papers, rabbit fur, material, a real chalkboard and digital painting. Not my usual style, but I always have fun playing with different techniques.
